Fall Favorites: Eyes And Lips

Hi there 🙂 Today I’m going to share a couple of my favorite products I’ve been using so far this fall. I use a lot of drugstore products because I shop way too much to spend a ton of money on makeup lol. First of all, I have been using a new mascara that was recommended to me by my mom:

Image

This is L’Oreal Voluminous False Lashes in “Blackest Black”

Image

I’ve also been using this Maybelline Expert Wear eye shadow pallet in “Charcoal Smokes” to create a smokey eye

Image

For the darkest color on my outer eye, I use Revlon Diamond Lust in “Night Sky”

 Image

As you can see the L’Oreal Voluminous mascara separates my lashes a lot better than the Maybelline Falsies did in my last mascara review. I don’t have the thickest or longest lashes out there so you may get better results with this. I personally still think that Lash Stilleto by Maybelline is the best mascara I’ve tried, but I am going to keep trying others as well 🙂

The smokey effect when my eyes are closed:

I think this is just the perfect amount of shadow to create a smokey eye. It’s noticeable when I look down or close my eyes but I don’t look like a street-walker lol 😉

My very favorite new lipstick for fall (recommended to me by a friend) is:

Image

“A Different Grape” by Clinique. It is kind of a dark purple-ish color but can look like a deep red depending on what you wear it with.

I always put a shiny gloss over lipstick; my favorite right now is Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush in “Shineberry”

Date Night Outfit

Hey everyone 🙂 Sorry that it has been awhile, I have been so busy! First of all, a hair update: I chickened out on the hair cut lol. My cousin is getting married in October and I’m going to see a lot of family and I think everyone would just make a big scene if I do it now so I’m going to wait. Plus the fact that I cried about it for days was a good sign that I just wasn’t ready lol. Anyways, here is an outfit I wore out with my boyfriend on Sunday night:

Image

Dress: Forever 21, around $30; Clutch: Bealls, $15. I had been eyeing this dress for awhile on the Forever21 website (it was a top-rated item) but by the time I went to buy it they were all out of my size…grrrrr 😦 So I went to the mall and thankfully they had just one left 🙂

Image

I also wore some leopard print tights from Target, $10. It’s not actually cold enough to need these here but I think they are so cute!

Image

A thin headband with little rhinestones from Forever21, $5.50

Image

Bracelet: Guess, $28

Image

And some red pumps from DSW Shoes; $60

The dress really clings to all your curves, especially if you have a big butt lol 😉

On my nails is “Scarlett O’Hara” & “Good As Gold” by Essie. Sometimes I like to paint random nails different colors and I did each hand different this time. These are great fall colors…and they are also close to the colors of the college I went to…Go ‘Noles 🙂

I am planning on posting a make up review within the next couple days & I will share the dress I got for my cousin’s wedding so stay tuned for that 🙂

Advice Please!

I am thinking about cutting my hair into a very short pixie cut. I’ve never had my hair anywhere near this short and am nervous! I have already made an appointment for next Wednesday, but am taking a full week to think things out before I do it. The reasoning behind wanting to do it is that my hair is so damaged that I just want to start fresh. I already cut a lot off early in the summer but it seems like it hasn’t helped much so I think I’m gonna go for chopping it all off and starting over! Plus I do think that some people can pull short hair off great, and who knows maybe I am one of those people! And if not, it’ll grow back.

Pictures of the cut I am thinking about:

She looks so great! I’d like to try it just like that (maybe a little longer), and I’d keep it blonde. What do you guys think? Would you ever do it?

Labor Day Outfit Idea

First of all, a big THANK YOU to all who have viewed or subscribed to my blog this week 🙂 I appreciate it!

Labor Day is kind of the unofficial transition from summer to fall and as you probably know, I am so excited for fall! For Labor Day this year, I am just hanging out at my boyfriend’s by the pool so I am planning to keep it casual. I’ll be wearing a black beachy dress, beach hat and flats. I chose black because I wanted to start wearing darker colors to embrace fall (not every day yet, but some of the time)! I’ll also be carrying the oversized bag I’ve been using most of the summer for trips to the pool or beach. I’ll put my bathing suit, towel, sunblock, Kindle, etc in there 🙂 It is almost as big as me lol but I can fit everything I need in it 🙂

Image

Dress: Victoria’s Secret “The Beach Dress”, it was $69.50 earlier this summer but is on sale now for $19.99 on the VS website!!! I do recommend ordering a size smaller than you normally get because it does run big. Hat: Ninewest.com, I think it was around $30; Bag: Victoria’s Secret, it came free with the gift card my boyfriend’s parents got me for Christmas last year.

Shoes: I got these at Target a couple years ago for around $15

Image

I got this braided beaded braclet from New York & Company, $12

Earrings: Charming Charlie, $4.80

On my nails is Essie’s “No Place Like Chrome.” It matches the silver rhinestone accents on the dress

Closeup of the top of the dress on; note: you don’t need to wear a bra with it because it has one built in 🙂

What are you guys going to be doing/wearing for Labor Day? Hope everyone is having a great weekend 🙂

Eye Makeup Review

Today I’m going to review a couple of new products I picked up at Target the other day. First of all, I am always trying new mascara because I have yet to find one I think is so amazing that I can’t do without. I also love to try different eye shadows and application techniques. Here are the products I used on my eyes today:

Image

Maybelline: “Falsies Volume Express” in very black

Image

Maybelline: “Line Stilleto” in blackest black

Image

Maybelline: “Eyestudio” in green with envy. I applied the lightest color in the pallet to my entire lid then filled in the outer part of my eye and the crease with the goldish color (2nd color from the left) then blended with a brush.

The effect:

Overall I am not really digging this mascara. It is a little clumpy and doesn’t give as much length and volume as other mascara I’ve tried. The eyeshadow looked great and lasted all day. It blended really well for a light gold/white shimmery effect. I’m sorry the shadow is hard to see… my camera sucks!

What is your favorite brand of drugstore eye makeup? Favorite mascara? The best mascara I’ve tried is Maybelline’s Lash Stilleto and I keep going back to it (I’m a Maybelline fan as you can tell haha). Can anyone recommend a good drugstore eye primer? I have tried a couple but none have done much for me. Thanks 🙂

Outfit Of The Day

I am super excited for fall fashion to kick off, but right now I am still enjoying my spring-y pastels and my summer-y brights! I will probably be able to enjoy them for some time if I want to since I live in Florida 😉 Today’s outfit was a loose white lace top with a Peter Pan collar and a pastel pink skirt with wedges.  Both items are light weight and have flowery patterns-perfect for spring or summer. The lace top came with an attached white tank so no need to wear a bandeau or other tank underneath. I got both the top and the skirt last week so I am sure they are still available if you are interested 🙂

Image

Shirt: Forever 21, $17.80; Skirt: Forever 21, $17.80

Image

Shoes: Kohls, approx $30 (they were a gift so I’m not 100% sure!)

I also wore pearl flower-shaped earrings from Forever 21, $2.80

Image

And a pearl necklace with a pastel pink rose that a friend got me for my birthday when she was in LA 🙂

Image

On my nails is Essie’s “Turquoise & Caicos.” It reminds me of a robin’s egg blue! I loved the way it popped against the pink! Essie polishes are my favorite right now.

The only thing I didn’t like was that the little collar on my shirt kept getting crooked because of the necklace. Next time I may wear it without it, even though I thought it was so cute! I’m sorry about the quality of the pictures; I don’t own a camera right now so I just used my cell phone. If it turns out I like blogging then I will buy a good camera. Let me know what your favorite trends are right now. Are you starting to break out the fall clothes or sticking with summer fashion for now? 🙂
